Description
Oscillating Carbide Blade consists of steel segments vulcanized in rubber with steel bushing positioned to facilitate mounting on standard 12 inch centers.The steel segments have been milled slot and brazed with tungsten carbide inserts along the wearing edge.
The overall dimension are approximately 7/8” thick by 6 inches wide and manufactured in 3 or 4 foot lengths.Each 12” length of blade will consist of a speciality profiled,carbide inserted steel segment with an 11/16” ID steel bushing positioned at mounting hole.The entire blade,consisting of 3 or 4 foot segments,is encased in rubber by way of sound,industry standard vulcanizing methods.
Application
Carbide snow plow blades are used on the front, underbody, and wing of a snow plow. Carbide snow plow blades look very similar to traditional steel cutting edges; however, they have a carbide insert brazed into the thickness of the steel or overlayed on the face along the bottom of the blade. Carbide is short for Tungsten Carbide; a metal composed of equal parts tungsten and carbon. Carbide is denser than steel enabling it to be a versatile and durable edge material that provides much better wear resistance properties than a cutting edge made of just steel.
Body Steel Segment
Each steel segment is manufactured from quench and tempered steel plate,profiled to accept the insert in the lower portion and is thinner at the top to allow the segment to be encased in rubber so as not to have direct contact with the snow plow.each segment is milled with a continuous slot along the wearing edge,which is fitted with tungsten carbide inserts that are brazed into place.
